  • About me

I’m a christian girl in South Africa, a doctor. I’m married. I like to visit new places and see new things. I get bored and distracted quite easily. I tend to order the same things over and over again at restaurants. I enjoy medicine - the challenge and the humanity of it. I enjoy pictures, nature, original ideas, beauty, creativity, music, poetry, and things that remind me of the important things in life . I never have time for everything I want to do and all too often end up wasting the time I do get on (guess) the internet! I have many facets that only a few get to explore fully - you don’t know me until you know me (although I am working on this - learning to get past the superficial and into the deep).

HIV breakthrough with stem cells

There is news in the world of research into finding the cure for HIV/AIDS. Apparently, a man with both leukemia and HIV underwent a stemcell transplant for his leukemia, and ended up apparently cured of the HIV as well. This is because the stemcell donar was one of those rare people who had a gene [...]

Psych experience

We started child psychiatry this week at Weskoppies, and I must say that I’m really enjoying it, besides from all the times I just want to cry for the kids. Some of them have really dysfunctional families. Some have such beautiful little hearts but their families don’t show them any affection and so they develop [...]
